Emma Anderson

Individual Therapist,
Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker

I am an individual therapist who enjoys working with children, teens, and adults in a collaborative therapeutic relationship. I believe that vulnerability and connection are powerful tools for growth and that healing happens in relationship. I also know that it can be intimidating to begin or resume therapy and share your story with someone new. I aim to provide a warm, understanding, and patient space for you to explore what authentic growth looks like for you - in your environment, community, and identities. Life is messy and multiple truths can coexist at once, and I welcome the chance to muddle through the complexities of life alongside you.

I use a psychodynamic and relational approach with a trauma-informed and attachment lens to explore salient interpersonal and systemic realities that may impact your life. I have a lot of experience working with children and enjoy utilizing playfulness and humor in my work, no matter your life stage or age. I have worked with adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities and I learned very quickly that most modalities and techniques in therapy privilege verbal processing and are not necessarily the most accessible or flexible. Therefore I try to stay nimble and creative in the many ways treatment can be therapeutic.

No matter what brings you into therapy, I also want to acknowledge and bolster the community, support, and interests you already have and help you feel more connected to what makes you feel most like you. We all have multiple, important identities, both visible and invisible. I aim to be supportive, curious, and affirming of your salient experiences and identities, and to lead with empathy and self-reflection as we get to know each other.

I graduated from Smith College School for Social Work and am currently a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker in the state of Washington (LW61514438).

In my free time, I enjoy all things food and cooking. It is my lens to connecting with new places, my people, and myself – my ever-growing cookbook collection is one of my great joys!  I love listening to pop-culture podcasts and take Academy Award (Oscar) season very seriously. I feel most like myself when I am near any body of water.
