    Therapy for Body Liberation

Have you often gotten the message that your worth is defined by your body size? Have you struggled over the years to lose weight and conform to the ideals pushed on you by diet culture? Perhaps your family or friends often tell you that your body needs to change. Are you looking to feel more at peace with your body and your relationship with food?

Body Liberation is a concept that speaks to the idea that all bodies are considered worthy. Large, small, fat or thin every body is worthy of respect, compassion, desirability and equal treatment. It doesn’t mean being absolutely in love with your body every moment of every day, but rather realizing that your body is worthy no matter what. Understanding and unlearning the damage that diet culture does to our relationship with our body is a starting point in developing body acceptance and liberation. At Wayfinder we want to help clients come to respect and cherish their bodies while healing from the often years of pain they’ve had trying to fit in with a world that doesn’t respect all bodies equally. We help clients feel more confident, centered, and worthy of love and leave behind feelings of shame and self-doubt.

All of the therapists at Wayfinder Counseling are firm believers in body liberation. We know how hard it is to fight against diet culture in day to day life and the voice it can put in your head. We want to help you live your best life in the body you are currently in! Having a safe and comfortable space to explore issues around food and body issues can be life changing. If you’re ready to have more ease with your body reach out to us and we can help!

“Making peace with your body is your mighty act of revolution. It is your contribution to a changed planet where we might all live unapologetically in the bodies we have.”
