I support people who have had difficult or traumatic relationships or experiences, and people who are neurodivergent or queer, who want to develop a deeper sense of presence, balance, empowerment and authenticity in their lives.
I understand that we learn thought patterns and develop expectations from traumatic experiences, and those beliefs and expectations can live unconsciously in our bodies and minds- we feel them and respond to them often without even knowing we're doing it. Recovery from trauma certainly isn’t as simple as “just change your thinking”. In cases of trauma, I believe that a helpful approach is to discover the beliefs and expectations we hold in our mind and bodies and gently, compassionately and with great reverence, question those patterns that once kept us safe in shitty situations, in order to expand awareness of those beliefs and exist in a way that’s healthier for us in the now. I think it’s a privilege and honor to bear witness to the emotions that maybe feel scary or hard to express, and want to support people in being with and moving through those feelings. Through this process of entering into supportive and deeply respectful relationships with these difficult experiences, therapy can help to open space for transformation to a state of greater ease, empowerment, and authenticity, in body and mind.
My personal style is encouraging, patient, empowering, inquisitive, affirming, and sometimes funny if the moment calls for it. I honor your pace and boundaries fully and want to support you in clarifying and expressing those boundaries. I believe you deserve to feel a right to exist in the way you truly are in this world, with all the experiences you’ve had, to feel strength to advocate for yourself and access support around oppression you may experience, and for your experiences to be heard and acknowledged and supported in a way that honors your particular version of wellbeing. I believe you deserve to give and receive attuned care from yourself and others, to have healthy relationships, to play, to feel safe and be joyous, to feel like you can express all of yourself in a way that feels true and right to you. I believe that you deserve to know and acknowledge yourself and your needs fully and to live in alignment with that knowledge in the present moment.
I have a Bachelor in Social work from the University of Vermont, and am currently enrolled in the University of Washington Master of Social Work program and am working as a graduate intern at Wayfinder Counseling, which I’ll graduate from in May of 2025. Outside of work, you’ll find me tending to my medicinal herb garden, wandering in the woods, hyperfocusing on the topic of the month (fellow people with ADHD, what’s up!), or getting creative with paint or the cello. I would be incredibly honored to walk this path of healing with you for a while.
