Gennarose Hinzo

Individual Therapist,
Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker

Welcome! I’m Gennarose, typically I go by Genna (she/her). You are so courageous for taking this step to explore the depths of yourself, and I am honored that you are considering this space. Have you been holding a lot lately—some heaviness from the past, some of it just from surviving systems that felt they were never built for you—and feeling like now might be the time to seek support?

I’m a trauma therapist practicing on the ancestral land of the Duwamish people (Seattle, WA). My approach is warm, relational, and honest. I support adolescents and adults in healing from trauma, navigating identity exploration, and working through the impacts of systemic oppression.I especially enjoy working with folks who are:

  • Ready to begin trauma processing, including work around sexual trauma
  • Grieving a recent or unresolved loss
  • Living with, impacted by, or recovering from substance use challenges
  • Navigating life transitions as young adults or late teens
  • Exploring identity—especially around culture, gender, sexuality race or neurodivergence
  • Feeling burnt out or disconnected (also see living through late-stage capitalism)
  • Deconstructing high-demand religious upbringings
  • LGBTQIA+ and/or BIPOC communities
  • Living with ADHD

You’ll find that my therapy style is collaborative and deeply rooted in the belief that every person holds inherent dignity and worth. I believe that all humans are deserving of play, pleasure, rest, and connection. I integrate a decolonized, somatic-body based approach into our work, helping you reconnect with your body, your relationships, and your sense of self. I believe in creating a therapeutic space where the full range of human experience—including the messy, complex, and painful parts—can be acknowledged and honored.

My practice is grounded in harm reduction and guided by curiosity, compassion, and creativity. I bring experience supporting clients impacted by the criminal legal system, substance use, and non-traditional families. I also have a strong foundation in working with youth and families in foster care or navigating developmental changes. In therapy with me, you are always the expert on your own life. I’ll meet you where you're at with warmth, honesty, and a deep respect for your story. Together, we will untangle what might be holding you back and build new pathways toward connection, rest, and healing together.

Outside of work, I embrace joy through tending to my many houseplants, cuddling my pup, attending concerts, listening to podcasts, and soaking up time in nature—especially near vast bodies of water.
